Our Practice in San Francisco

Dr. Garley Leon was born and raised in San Francisco. She attended Lowell High School and the University of San Francisco, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She moved to Oregon to earn her Doctorate in Optometry degree at Pacific University College of Optometry and further her studies by completing a residency at the Northport Veterans Affair Hospital through the State University of New York College of Optometry. During her residency, she focused on neuro-rehabilitative optometry following traumatic brain injuries, ocular disease, and low vision. Dr. Leon was an Assistant Clinical Professor for the University of California Berkeley School of Optometry for several years before she established Lunettes Optometric. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.

Dr. Leon resides in San Francisco with her husband and their three sons. Her free time is spent tutoring her boys and giving them well-rounded life experiences.

Dr. Karen Molina is originally from San Diego, CA. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Integrative Biology from the University of California, Berkeley. She taught figure skating for a few years before completing her Doctorate of Optometry at the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry. During optometry school, she completed ocular disease rotations at Aran Eye Associates in Florida and Brooklyn Eye Center in New York and a specialty contact lens rotation at SUNY. She also went on medical mission trips to provide eye care to under-served populations in Nicaragua and Mexico. After graduation, she returned to her alma mater and completed a Primary Care and Contact Lens residency at the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry. Dr. Molina is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.

Dr. Molina’s passion lies in managing anterior segment conditions (eye infections, dry eye, keratoconus, corneal disease), fitting specialty contact lenses (gas permeable lenses, scleral lenses, prosthetic soft contact lenses), and managing nearsightedness or myopia control (ortho-k, multifocal soft contact lenses, atropine). In addition to working at Lunettes Optometric, she also works part-time as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry, teaching in their myopia control and primary care clinics. 

When Dr. Molina is not in the clinic, she enjoys cooking/baking, yoga, traveling, visiting art museums, drawing, eating at new restaurants, and exploring San Francisco.

Dr. Ashley Katsikos graduated with honors from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She then attended the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, where she graduated Cum Laude with her Doctorate in Optometry. Dr. Kastikos completed her residency in ocular disease and low vision at the esteemed UC Berkeley School of Optometry. 

Dr. Katsikos is glaucoma certified and certified in prescribing therapeutic pharmaceutical agents for the treatment and management of a full spectrum of ocular diseases. She specializes in diagnosing and managing ocular disease and low vision and is very experienced in treating and managing dry eye syndrome. She completed a 9-month long internship at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida as an assistant research coordinator of a clinical research project that studied dry eye syndrome in a veteran population. 

Dr. Katsikos is also experienced with fitting a full spectrum of soft contact lenses, including spherical, toric, monovision, and multifocal. She is also able to perform specialty contact lens fittings for patients with irregular corneal curvature. She is fluent in Japanese and can perform comprehensive eye exams in Japanese. Dr. Katsikos enjoys doing home improvement projects, crafting, bike riding, and hiking in her free time. 

Dr. Joy Lam was born and raised in Houston, Texas, and attended The University of Texas at Austin, where she received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance with a minor in Biology. During this time, she worked closely with a group of optometrists and discovered her love for optometry and passion for helping patients. Dr. Lam then went on to earn her Doctorate in Optometry at the University of Houston College of Optometry, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. During her optometric education, she completed rotations at the U.S. Naval Medical Clinic in Quantico, Virginia, and the BridgeBuilder Eye Clinic in Dallas, Texas. She was also a member of Beta Kappa Sigma, an International Optometric Honor Society. 

In addition to prescribing glasses and contact lenses, Dr. Lam specializes in the management and treatment of diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy, macular degeneration, and the co-management of cataracts and LASIK. Dr. Lam also has a special interest in the treatment of ocular injuries, eye infections, dry eye syndrome, computer vision syndrome, multifocal contact lenses, and corneal refractive therapy for myopia control (CRT). 

In her free time, she enjoys cooking, hiking, yoga, boot camp classes, and traveling. After undergoing refractive surgery a few years ago, she is now looking forward to more water activities and becoming scuba certified in the near future!

Amanda was born and raised in the East Bay. She is a proud graduate of Salesian High School and San Francisco State University, where she focused her studies on health science with a concentration in health education. Amanda has worked in the hospitality industry as a manager of a med spa. Currently, she is an optometric technician and assists with managing the front staff at Lunettes Optometric.

Exercise and fitness are essential for Amanda; she appreciates an active lifestyle and likes to keep busy. When not at work, you will often find her at music festivals and various beer tastings.
